As a lightweight ceiling mounted lamp, this lamp takes after the minimized forms and dissolved spatial boundaries, as well as some materials and colours, of Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Pavilion. Light is provided by several feet of high power flexible warm-white LED ribbons and is fully dimmable by remote. The entire LED control module is enclosed within the intersecting smaller light box. The design of the LED layout provides both direct and indirect light through the top/bottom and sides respectively.
Each piece of this lamp has been meticulously hand-crafted and finished over the course of three months. It is constructed from basswood and cherrywood, creating a strong yet lightweight skeleton, and accented with a highly reflective low-iron 4mm thick glass panel that changes in its transparency/reflective qualities depending on surrounding lighting.
